| Headlines for Emails AUTHOR: Ralf Bich Aug 2005 Headlines / Subjects are one of the most important parts in your email advertisementing. Readers will scan the e-mail subject lines and decide if they want to read the rest of your e-mail. Good copy will need to grab their attention and have them open up the email for further information, or they will bypass your ad and go to something else. Tailor your headline to a specific taregt audience. You will never get 100% of your audience to pay attention to your ad so target the 5-10% that will potentially read your advertisement. The headline should be interesting and appealing to your target audience. Experiment with your ads, make up 10 to 15 headlines that you feel will work and track your results so you are able to guage which ones work and which ones you want to kick to the curb. The body of your advertisement can remain the same. Focus on writing your headlines, once you can attract the target audience your headline is supposed to reach the body text of your ad will do the work for itself. Which of the following headlines would you open and read?
The body of all the ads stay the same, only the head line changes. When you create the "body" keep it short and simple, unless you are a great copywriter and be anble to hold the readers interest for a "long" page. Highlight the main points of what you are promoting, break it down into easy to digest bits. Always include a PS and even a PPS to the closing. ---------------------------------- SUBJECT: UberSafeList...Free...send Daily...earn $$$ It is a GREAT safelist...you can join FREE, and still be able to send DAILY. It contains all of the features an ad should have, and I would like to thank Francisco Pereira for providing it (some minor rewrites on my part). Use the above ad as a guide and see what your response is. |
