Website Statistics, Web Analytics and Traffic Stats 2009 Review
As defined by the Official WAA, web analytics is the collection, measurement, reporting and analysis of web based data in order to understand and optimize website usage.
There are two generally accepted categories of web analytics (and statistics); off-site and on-site. As its name denotes, off-site analytics and statistics includes the measurement, analysis and reporting of a website's potential audience (opportunity), share of voice (visibility), and buzz (comments) that is occuring on the Internet as a whole.
On-site analytics refers specifically to the web based measurement, analysis and reporting of specific data on a given website. This includes conversion elements (i.e. landing pages, exit pages, etc.) On-site analytics measures the web based performance of a website from a commercial perspective. When "web analytics" is used in a commercial context most people are refering to on-site web analytics.

UberHits - Month to Date Visitor Stats
AUTHOR: Ralf Bich
Site: http://uberhits.com/
Month to Date Visitor Stats for UberHits.com (Live Stats):
The chart shows the number of 'visits' to Uberhits.com, with an important breakout, which is the drop down showing the number of visits by a single visitor and the number of times they visited the webpage. The chart also helps to determine if some of the programs should be dropped.
Breakdown:
Site sending traffic = www.autosurfpro.com
Number of visits sent = ex. 435
Number of vistors = 50 (which means 50 different/unique visitors came to UberHits)
The above information tells me that I will continue using and promoting this site as they are providing unique visitors.
Drilling deeper into another site:
This site only provided 1 visit.
Time to take a look at and make a decision to either continue supporting the site or dropping.
Keep in mind that you do not want to 'write off' a site in the first few days or even a month. Following are some of the things I look at when making an informed decission.
- Length of time site has been on line (new or more than 6 months old)
- Number of members
- Pop-ups, malware, virus downloads and re-directs
- How much time do I need to invest and what is the return
The following stats are 'live' and change on a daily basis and where used as a source for the above article.
Please note that Piwik is still under developement but it does provide enough data and break downs to make an informed decission of who is driving traffic and number of unique visitors.

Backup - Backup - Backup
If you like most computer users, backing up your files is a lot like pulling teeth - we tend to put it off until we really have to or never. By then, it's often too late and the damage may have already been done.
Computers aren't perfect:
- Files become corrupt
- Motherboards malfunction
- CPUs fail taking our precious data with them
- Power Surges that leads to a problem
- Computers are notorious for crashing and crashing means the loss of data
DO NOT use your backup as a work in progress...
